Position Purpose
The Assistant Project Manager position provides design leadership and oversight of design support staff for green stormwater infrastructure. This position reports to practice leadership or other more senior position within a familial stormwater team. Assistant Project Managers will coordinate with a larger multidisciplinary project team to deliver a variety of projects for both public and private clients while being mentored toward a Project Management role. The APM interacts with clients to assure their satisfaction, promotes responsiveness. Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provide technical and task leadership to all types of projects within the group.
Showing the emerging responsibility for the coordination and completion of projects.
Working with the PM to deliver GSI projects by working with the project team, setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, and monitoring project progress.
Be on the forefront of an evolving green design market; developing innovative environmental protection strategies.
Working on stormwater designs, retrofits, construction drawings, and watershed planning studies.
Collaborate daily with Planners and Landscape Architects to enhance stormwater designs and integrate stormwater into site architecture which reduces flooding and/or improves water quality
Work with a number of client types including residential and commercial development, campuses, multimodal transportation, greenways, and parks
Compile and present findings and results of studies and analyses and write reports.
Help build a diverse engineering group and mentor designers.
Fieldwork and site visits from study or design through construction
Qualifications
Four-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biological and Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Landscape Architecture, or related field
Registered PE in North Carolina or Texas, or the ability and desire to be licensed within 4 months• 5+ years of design experience in water resources, civil engineering or GSI
Experience with AutoCAD
Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Self-starter with strong drive to better oneself, project team, and community
Preferences
Experience with SCM design and modeling
Understanding of common stormwater regulations and permitting requirements
Civil 3D
Exposure to ArcGIS Pro or other GIS Software
Experience with hydrograph routing and open channel modeling
